This Show is Over!

Several local Chicago shows are out the door as 2012 draws to a close.
Emerald City Theatre has been treating the kiddies right over the years at The Apollo Theater but made a bold move to the Broadway Playhouse for their show Cinderella. It is the gayest adaptation that there has been in a while with the stepsisters in drag. There's even a quote from Mommie Dearest "No more wire hangers, ever!"

While the story is very familiar, the cast gives a different take on it while still having fun. The show closes on January 6 so if you don't mind children chatting during the performance head on over before it's too late.
Before that make sure you don't miss The Rockettes at the Akoo Theatre in Rosemont. There is no way not to be in the holiday spirit after seeing this Radio City classic.

The bus scene is a highlight that leaves the audience feeling that they drove down the streets of New York, without the traffic! Their last high kick ends on December 30.
Thursday December 27 is a one night only screening of Barrymore at the Music Box Theatre. This is a revival on film of the one man show Christopher Plummer Broadway hit about this fine actor's rehearsal of Richard III. The sense of humor rings true and this is a rare opportunity to see it in this setting.

War Horse is about to gallop away on January 5. The run was way too short for a production this moving and majestic at the Cadillac Palace Theatre. My pal Joey has to be seen live and not just in the Steven Spielberg movie adaption. The puppets from Handspring are realistic with top notch acting from the cast. This is not a show for children under ten like Cinderella is.

When looking for entertainment at the end of the year run do not walk to any of these fine performances before the show is over!
