This month’s featured bartender is one of Chicago’s busiest chix behind and in front of the bar, Megan. She always has a smile on her face, a sense of style that won’t quit and a legion of fans around the community. Let’s see what she’s all about.
How long have you been bartending?
I've been bartending for about 4 months now on and off, not very long, but I've working in the club scene for around 3 years.
Where can people go to catch you live?
People can catch me live doing the ever wonderful go-go dancing at Chix Mix events, bartending on whim at Spin Nightclub, in the crowd or on the stage for fabulous Chicago Kings shows and the out and about in the growing Chicago burlseque shows such as Gurlesque Burlesque.
Favorite thing about bartending?
My favorite thing about bartending is the opportunity I get to be able to have conversations with people. When dancing or performing it's sort of a run by discussion with folks, but with bartending you're behind this space and they can talk your ear off all they want. It's a bit of a different experience.
Least favorite thing about it?
My least favorite thing about bartending would be those who order round after round after round, sit at your bar for hours and DON'T TIP!
What is your passion?
What is my passion in life? Well, my passion would be doing the things that make me feel emotionally and mentally alive and stimulated. Writing is the first thing that comes to mind, it's been my life line for most of my life. Performing of any sort, dancing, acting, etc., always good things for me. And music, although I don't actually play any music, no matter where I am, if I have any control over it, there is always some music playing.
What do you do when you aren't busy bartending?
When I'm not bartending, I work full time as an assistant club manager. It's a job I was lucky to fall into and that I really enjoy. I'm currently starting the process of getting my butt back in school as well, which is really exciting and terrifing for me all at the same time. I try to perform when ever possible (see above answers), it keeps things fresh and alive for me. I've also been holding benefits once a month with a good group of ladies to help raise money for individuals and groups who are working in the art scene in Chicago, we've been doing this under the name Heartless B!tch Entertainment. It really is a dream to be able to be a part of it!
Where did the name Trigger Jane come from?
The name Trigger Jane actually came out of my writing a few years ago. I was trying to find different characters to write under, different personalities and POV's. All the characters had Jane as a part of their name and Trigger was my favorite, so when I started performing I grasped onto her and ran with it.
