Chicago, IL - Some CTA customers who took advantage of the penny rides on New Year's Eve were erroneously charged the normal transit rate.

The CTA Tattler on ChicagoNow.com reports about 2,500 customers were instructed to tap their Chicago Card Plus card to the CTA's fare equipment, which resulted in the deduction.

The CTA says refunds were issued last week to passengers who were charged for the New Year's Eve rides.
