Chicago, IL - In a scene eerily reminiscent of the February Scarlet fire, Chicago police and fire units had Halsted Street blocked off between Buckingham and Aldine while they fought a third floor fire at a three-floor walk-up at 819 Aldine in Lakeview.

The fire appeared to begin in the rear of the third floor unit, according to witness reports.

A police officer told ChicagoPride.com that the only people home during the blaze lived on the first floor. The man and woman observed speaking with the Fire Marshall told him they were out walking with their newborn.

Police and fire officials confirmed everyone got out of the building safely, but tell ChicagoPride.com that the entire building is likely uninhabitable due to a combination of smoke and water damage.
