Poseidon! Wins Award; Tops Attendance

Chicago, IL - Hell in a Handbag Productions is pleased to announce that POSEIDON! An Upside Down Musical was this year’s top draw at the 2003 New York International Fringe Festival and received a New York International Fringe Festival Excellence Award for Ensemble Performance!

Hell in a Handbag Managing Director Steve Hickson admits “We had to scramble a bit each night to accommodate the overflow crowd we found at the theatre, but that’s a problem we were happy to deal with!” “Receiving the award of excellence for Ensemble Performance was very gratifying to us. POSEIDON! is certainly a group effort, and our cast and crew rose to the monumental task of bringing such a large show to the New York International Fringe Festival on our modest budget without blinking an eye. I couldn’t be prouder of them”, says David Cerda, Hell in a Handbag Artistic Director and author of POSEIDON! An Upside Down Musical.

POSEIDON! An Upside Down Musical enjoyed a four-month Chicago run, and was a hit with both critics and audiences. “The best and funniest musical since The Producers” says Gregg Shapiro of Windy City Radio.

Hell In A Handbag Productions is currently working on an updated version of David Cerda’s holiday camp classic, Rudolph, the Red-Hosed Reindeer to be presented this holiday season.
