Inauguration Day was filled with love at Sidetrack in Boystown

Chicago, IL - The Love Is Love Party, held Jan. 20 at Sidetrack in Boystown, was a well-run, well-attended, wildly-successful event that organizers said was, "a great chance to come together in solidarity on Inauguration Day."

Christopher Clark from Lambda Legal gave a rousing speech to the crowd.

"Friday's Love is Love party was a welcome reminder that we have the unwavering support of our community during this dark time, but more importantly, it was a reminder that love is at the center of everything we do," said Clark. "Friday's event, as well as the Women's March on Washington and solidarity marches in Chicago and all over the world, were a show of unity, force and resistance against this administration. We will not sit idly by as they try to erase us. We exist; we deserve respect and we will never go back."

iCandee offered Love is Love shirts and hats, which also were seen Saturday at the Women's March and all over social media.

Absolut helped commemorate the party with a photo booth, and DiDa Ritz and the Vixen continued to keep the crowd energized.

"The momentum (from the party) carried over to Saturday when many people came to Boystown after the rally to remain unified, show off their homemade rally signs and enjoy the unseasonably warm temperature," said Sidetrack general manager Brad Balof.

"My hope is that this passion seen Friday and Saturday will continue, that all 250,000 people in Chicago and the millions around the world will remain energized to stay tuned, and to really activate when the time is crucial — to vote, to go to areas outside of Chicago and Illinois where we need to get the vote out."
