Darren Criss will reprise the role of Hedwig as Hedwig and the Angry Inch begins a national tour.
Criss, who is best know for playing a gay student on Fox's Glee, will return to the role in October at the SHN Golden Gate Theater in San Francisco. He'll also play the East German transsexual when the play opens at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles a month later.
Hedwig and the Angry Inch tells the story of a transgender rock musician's search for "my other half."
The 29-year-old Criss played the part last year on Broadway. Out actor Neil Patrick Harris won a Tony Award for his portrayal of Hedwig on Broadway.
"When I found out that the tour would be kicking off in my hometown of San Francisco – the city where I was introduced to Hedwig and the Angry Inch – I could think of no better excuse to get back into the heels of a character I loved and missed so very much," Criss said in a statement.
Criss made his Broadway debut in 2012 as corporate ladder-climbing J. Pierrepont Finch in How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying.
