June Kicks off Pride Month in Chicago

Chicago, IL - June 1st kicks off Pride Month with a record number of events this year to celebrate the communities and to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall rebellion. More than 100 different social, cultural, athletic and political events will take place during June Pride Month in Chicago for 2009.

The largest of the events is the Chicago Annual Pride Parade that is scheduled for Sunday June 28 at Noon beginning at the corner of Halsted Street at Belmont Avenue.

The Chicago Pride Parade logo this year features the theme, "Stonewall: 40 Years After." The international pride theme is "Your Rights, Our Rights, Human Rights." June Pride Month event sponsors and parade registrants have the option of using the Stonewall theme, the international theme, or a theme or slogan of their own choice to commemorate and celebrate Pride, 2009.

The Chicago Pride Parade is organized by PRIDEChicago.

Friday, June 26 3 p.m. - 11 p.m.
Saturday, June 27 11 a.m. - 11 p.m.

Pride Fest is sponsored by the Northalsted Area Merchants Association. Suggested gate donation is $7.
