RuPaul drag sensations to sing holiday concert at the Park West

Chicago, IL - They will be singing many of the holiday classics – with a side splash of sass too, no doubt.

"Christmas Queens" will be held Monday night, Dec. 21, at the Park West (322 W. Armitage Ave.), featuring RuPaul's Drag Race stars Willam, Alaska, Jinkx Monsoon, Sharon Needles, Ginger Minj, and Katya.

They are singing songs from their new Christmas album, now available on iTunes, and kicking off their 6-city tour.

The concert will be a "fun way to enjoy the holidays and celebrate the season," said Kim Chi, a Chicago entertainer. "I am excited to see each and every single one of the queens. They all have a very strong aesthetic and personal style; all of them will definitely provide a great variety of numbers."

And bringing them together on one stage, well, Kim Chi said with a smile that it might just lead to some "tears, confrontation and drama." Kim Chi then went serious and added that the concert will be "a fun, finger-snapping, fabulous soirée that (hopefully will) become an annual tradition."

Tickets are $35-50 for general admission, or $75 for VIP which includes a private meet and greet with the celebrities. Tickets can be purchased at: https://gopride.com/Zc2z

"We're excited to bring the show to great cities that are huge supporters of RuPaul's Drag Race," said Peter Hendrickson, the event's national promotor and co-owner of Murray & Peter Present, based in Royal Oak, Mich. "Booking six queens with very busy schedules is tough enough. Now try and get the venue availability in six cities to coordinate with their schedules. It's harder than a drag race mini-challenge."

The concert starts at 8 p.m., and is expected to last about 90 minutes.

Chicago-based Neverland Productions (NVRLND) will be hosting the Christmas Queens event.

"Every so often we get to see one or two of these drag queens in action, but to see all of them performing under one roof is like our very own local 'RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars," said Neverland owner Anthony DiFiore. "These are some of the most popular queens ever to be on RuPaul's TV show. To top things off, this show isn't just at a bar, (but rather), it's at the prestigious Park West theatre. We're talking curtains, top-notch sound system, theatrical lighting.

"This is our holiday season's pinnacle of drag entertainment."

DiFiore admitted that he's most excited to see and hear Katya as he was "obsessed with her sense of humor the moment I saw her in the Chicago premiere of last season's RuPaul's Drag Race," he said. "She did this goofy skit at The Vic Theatre and I was instantly sold. Watching her on the season just made me love her even more."
