Chicago, IL - Defense Secretary Robert Gates appeared on "Fox News Sunday" today and communicated about the current state on the "Don't Ask Don't Tell" policy.

In discussing gays in the military, Gates said both he and President Barack Obama have "a lot on our plates right now," and "let's push that one down the road a little bit."

Although the White House has reported that the President has begun consulting with the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff on how to lift the ban, Gates reported that little progression has been made at this time.

Via facebook, Illinois State Representative Deborah Mell commented, "I knew this was coming. I hope I am proven wrong but this is a second term issue."

The policy, introduced in 1993, prohibits any homosexual or bisexual person from disclosing his or her sexual orientation or from speaking about any homosexual relationships, including marriages or other familial attributes, while serving in the United States armed forces.
