Same-sex marriages are to begin today in Connecticut now that a judge has cleared the way.
According to the Associated Press, New Haven Superior Court Judge Jonathan Silbert ruled this morning that gay and lesbian couples can begin requesting applications for a marriage license from clerks throughout the state.
Many gay and lesbian couples are planning ceremonies today.
Today's decision followed a Connecticut Supreme Court ruling on Oct. 10 saying same-sex couples have the right to marry under Connecticut state law.
