Northalsted brings back Holiday Bucks Gift Card program

Chicago, IL - With the Black Friday frenzy over, small businesses hope to gain exposure during the busy holiday season with Small Business Saturday, Nov. 29.

Sandwiched between Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Small Business Saturday is an opportunity for local retailers to get a piece of the action during the biggest shopping weekend of the year.

Neighborhood shops in Lakeview, including Boystown, and Andersonville are participating with special offers and discounts on Saturday. Local business owners say customers buying into Small Business Saturday benefit the community.

As part of Small Business Saturday, the Northalsted Business Alliance is bringing back its popular Holiday Bucks Gift Card program with a kick-off event from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Hydrate Nightclub, 3458 N. Halsted. The Gift Card is redeemable at more than 50 Boystown businesses. For a list of participating businesses visit www.northalsted.com.

Small Business Saturday was started in 2010 by American Express.

The US Small Business Administration estimated that customers spent nearly $5.5 billion nationwide in 2012 at small, independent stores during the event.
