Chicago Police seek clues behind Boystown-area arsons

Nine cases of arson occurred over four months, causing cops to search for tips and surveillance footage.

Chicago, IL - Arson detectives with the Chicago Police Department say they're on the hunt for additional clues and surveillance footage after nine separate alley fires occurred in Lakeview since June.

Police issued a community alert to residents Monday night telling residents to submit any surveillance video to the city's arson department, as well as secure their garbage and vehicles.

The arsons started on June 10 when eight cars were destroyed by fires in the 3500 block of North Wilton Avenue just outside of Boystown. Six others have happened since, all taking place in the 19th police district in Lakeview surrounding Boystown.

Police say all the fires happened between the hours of 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. Any suspicious activity should be reported by calling 911, and any tips should be reported to the Bureau of Detectives - Arson Section at (312) 746-7618.

Since the string started, arsons have been reported in the following locations:

3500 block of North Wilton Avenue - June 10 at 4 a.m.

3500 block of North Wilton Avenue - June 10 at 4:10 a.m.

3500 block of North Wilton Avenue - June 10 at 4:35 a.m.

800 block of West Roscoe Street - August 31 at 4:28 a.m.

3200 block of North Kenmore Avenue - August 31 at 5:09 a.m.

800 block of West Buckingham Place - September 12 at 11 p.m.

800 block of West Buckingham Place - September 13 at 1:48 a.m.

800 block of West Buckingham Place - September 26 at 2:32 a.m.

330 block of North Clark Street - September 26 at 2:32 a.m.
