Chicago, IL -
Chicago House & Social Service Agency has announced its annual Brunch and Fashion Show, May 4th and the premier of the all new "Families for Families" special event on May 3rd. Both events will be held in the Winter Garden Ballroom of the Harold Washington Library. Sunday's traditional Brunch & Fashion Show will be highlighted by Chicago's very own Steven Rosengard, of Bravo TV's hit reality series, Project Runway. The Food Network's "Hearty Boys," Dan Smith and Steve McDonagh, will both cater and co-chair Saturday's Family event.
"The theme is "Candyland Couture," said Jeremy Hilborn, special events manager for Chicago House. "It will be a sensationally sweet and often spicy kickoff to Spring." The annual sold-out Sunday Brunch and Fashion Show will be preceded by the "Families for Families" on Saturday, and both will help provide funding for Chicago House's Family Support Program's expansion, which will grow to house 20 adults and 45 dependent children in the coming year.
"While children, and even some adults, might have trouble sympathizing with the single, formerly homeless adults who live at our other programs, The Family Support Program is tangible to a broader range of attendees," Hilborn continued. "Kids with hopes, dreams and desires just like theirs benefit from the tutoring, mentoring, after school programs, summer camp, and camaraderie that become available to them because of the program. You don't often think of an entire family participating in a fundraising event, and that's where this will be different: Families joining together, in support of families."
The Hearty Boys of Food Network fame have prepared a fun menu for the Saturday, Families for Families event that includes Willy Wonka's Waffle Station, Princess Lolly's Cereal Station and The Gingerbread People's Cookie Decorating Stations. Radio Disney, in addition to their energetic show, will provide an event team doing interactive activities with the youngsters that include games, dancing, hula hoops, and prize drawings and giveaways every 13 minutes. "It will all be very high energy, loud and proud," said Hilborn.
The next day, Sunday, May 4th, the annual Brunch and Fashion show will continue the "Candyland Couture" theme with fashions headlined by Steven Rosengard of Bravo-TV's hit reality series Project Runway; His Stuff, Andrew Christian; 5p1t, Jake, and MAC Cosmetics. Guests will be treated to a three-course lunch from Jewell Events Catering while the Sara Lee Corporation and the newly launched Sweet Miss Giving's Bakery will provide sweet treats and desserts. Jayson Home & Garden will return with the one-of-a-kind flower market from which guests can purchase flowers by the stem to create their own table centerpieces, all to benefit Chicago House.
The Families for Families, May 3, is from Noon to 3:00 PM. Tickets are $40 for children and $100 for adults. The Annual Spring Brunch and Fashion Show, May 4, is from 11:30A.M. to 3:00 P.M. Tickets are $160 for Garden Seating and $260 at the Runway. Both events will be held in the Winter Garden Ballroom, 400 South State Street at the Harold Washington Library Center.
