Chicago, IL - The International Federation of Black Prides, Inc. (IFBP) board of directors formally transferred the official IFBP Black Pride in Chicago from Chicago Windy City Black Pride to Chicago Windy City Black LGBT-SGL Pride recently at the recommendation of the IFBP membership. In addition, the IFBP board of directors and membership affirmed their support of Charles Nelson and his leadership in the Chicago Black LGBT-SGL community.

The IFBP is a coalition of 28 Black Pride organizers formed to promote a multinational network of LGBT/Same Gender Loving Pride and community-based organizations dedicated to building solidarity, health and wellness, promoting unity, and ensuring the development of education, economic empowerment, and individual and collective work, responsibility and self-determination. More than 350,000 people attended Black Prides in the United States in 2007.

"A strong Black Pride in Chicago is very important to the IFBP as Chicago is one of the centers of the Black LGBT community in the US," said the IFBP President/CEO, Earl Fowlkes. Fowlkes added, "Charles' leadership is responsible for the renewed interest in Black Pride in the Windy City and the IFBP is behind him 100 percent." Chicago Windy City Black LGBT-SGL Pride "Exploding With Pride" takes place July 2-7.
