Chicago, IL - Good news Wednesday night for Charlie Gurion and David Wilk, who were searching for their missing dogs following a break in at their Avondale home Tuesday morning.

"We are a family again," Wilk told ChicagoPride.com.

Wilk said they received a call Wednesday evening from a man that found the dogs in Humboldt Park overnight.

"A family near Humboldt Park picked them up right before the storm last night," explained Wilk. "A dad and his two kids spotted them walking the streets near the park and took them in for the night and day."

18-month-old Rue and 9-month-old Pierre, both French bulldogs, went missing Tuesday morning after the door was kicked open in the robbery. Three laptop computers were also taken during the incident.

"We are beyond thankful for everyone's love and support," the couple said on Facebook, where thousands of people shared their story on Wednesday. "All the sharing of our posts, articles, news video, putting up of fliers, searching, and everything is something we never can repay you all for. Our house and family are whole again."

Wilk and Gurion are active members in Chicago's LGBT community and are newlyweds. They became the first same-sex couple in Cook County to receive a marriage license on Feb. 21 after a federal judge ruled there was no reason for residents of Cook County to wait until the state's new gay marriage law takes effect on June 1. The couple wed on Feb 22.
