Spears’ Mom: Britney Resting at L.A. Hospital; Sam Lufti Out

Los Angeles, CA - Britney Spears' parents, Lynne and Jamie, as well as her manager Sam Lufti, were among the first people to visit the troubled pop star after she was taken from her home by ambulance early this morning to the UCLA Medical Center.

As she departed the medical center, Lynne Spears told waiting reporters her daughter was resting. The singer's father, Jamie, and Lufti left without saying a word.

Meanwhile, various reports suggest Lufti is being forced out of Spears' life by the singer's lawyers. He has been acting as her manager and publicist for months, seeming to come out of nowhere in the singer's circle of friends.

An anonymous source from the Los Angeles Police Department told The Associated Press earlier today that the 26-year-old pop star was taken to the hospital to "get help."

Unidentified authorities told The Los Angeles Times that she had been placed on "mental health evaluation hold."

Not much else is known about the events leading up to Spears' admittance into the hospital.

According to The Los Angeles Times, more than a dozen motorcycle officers and an LAPD ambulance arrived at the singer's Studio City residence around 1 a.m. this morning. Shortly after, Spears was rushed from her home into the awaiting ambulance.

The motorcade that took the pop star to the hospital was said to have "stretched longer than a football field," according to The Los Angeles Times, and seemed to show "a large investment in resources."

This is the second time in a month that Spears has been hospitalized. On Jan. 3, she was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after she refused to give up custody of her two children to ex-husband Kevin Federline.
