Chicago Tribune editorial page editor Bruce Dold lead a discussion about marriage equality on Tuesday at the Museum of Broadcast and Communications.
Dold was joined by State Rep. Greg Harris (D-Chicago), lead sponsor of The Religious Freedom and Marriage Fairness Act; Chicago Ald. Deborah Mell (33rd); Peter Breen, vice president and senior counsel for the Thomas More Society; and Robert Gilligan, executive director of the Catholic Conference of Illinois.
The forum also included time for audience questions.
Illinois currently recognizes gay couples with civil unions. The Religious Freedom and Marriage Fairness Act stalled in the House after passage in the Senate earlier this year.
