Chicago, IL - The Chicago Cubs honored the Chicago Force Women's Tackle Football Team for their 2013 perfect season and National Championship title during the Cubs game Tuesday at Wrigley Field.

"It was incredibly gratifying to have the Cubs publicly demonstrate their support," Force owner Linda Bache told ChicagoPride.com. "They're a great organization and they have tremendous community involvement."

The special honor was arranged by Cubs co-owner Laura Ricketts, who has become an ardent fan of the Force.

"Laura has been extremely supportive of our team, as you may have guessed from the personalized Force jersey she was wearing at the game last night. She's been to a number of Force games and has even performed the pre-game coin toss," commented Bache.

Force quarterback and World Championship MVP, Sami Grisafe, performed the National Anthem and kicker Tricia Charbonneau threw out the ceremonial first-pitch.

The Force (12-0) cruised to a convincing 81-34 win over the Dallas Diamonds on Aug. 3 to win their first national championship. During the 2013 perfect season, the Chicago Force outscored their opponents 771-128.

"After a perfect 12-0 season and a national championship, we're feeling pretty good about what we've accomplished," said Bache. "We're standing on the mountaintop right now as the best team in women's football. What's next -- let's repeat in 2014."
