Puerto Rican boxer Orlando "The Phenomenon" Cruz has proposed marriage to his partner.

According to the AP, the 32-year-old Cruz proposed marriage to his partner in a video posted on Facebook.

"I want to tell you and share with your friends, and my friends, will you marry me?" Cruz asked in the 2-minute video. "It's an important step, a step which I've thought about, which we have thought about."

Cruz's partner reportedly said "yes" to the proposal.

"I took a very important step in my life and I will assume you want my happiness and the happiness of my partner," he messaged Wednesday to his more than 5,200 followers on Twitter.

Puerto Rican gay activist Pedro Julio Serrano said he would be the wedding's best man. Cruz did not discuss where the wedding would take place, but he trains in Buffalo, New York, one of the 13 states where gay and lesbian couples can legally marry.

Cruz will fight Mexico's Orlando Salido for the vacant WBO featherweight title on October 12 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
