Chicago, IL - The Lesbian and Gay Bar Association of Chicago (LAGBAC) will participate in the Northalsted Market Days street festival Aug. 10-11. During the event, LAGBAC will invite couples — both same-sex and opposite sex — to unite in support of marriage equality in Illinois by engaging in faux marriage ceremonies.

Time: 11 a.m.-10 p.m., Booth #173, 3349 N. Halsted, in front of Sidetrack.

The faux marriage ceremonies will be officiated by members of LAGBAC and area politicians, including Congressman Mike Quigley and Lieutenant Gov. Sheila Simon.

LAGBAC is a professional organization of lawyers, judges, law students and other legal professionals. Rooted in the common goals of mutual respect and tolerance, LAGBAC offers a vast array of networking and professional development opportunities to the LGBT legal community.

Through its educational initiatives, LAGBAC seeks to increase the awareness of the public, the legal profession and the judicial system about legal issues of particular concern to the LGBT community.
