Lincoln Park Caribou closed, remaining Chicago locations to convert to Peet’s in 12-18 months
Chicago, IL -
Caribou Coffee said last week it would close 80 stores and rebrand 88 more as Peet's Coffee & Tea in Chicago and elsewhere. On Sunday, the Lincoln Park location at 2453 N. Clark closed.
The Minnesota-based chain said it would turn the remaining Chicago locations into the California-based Peet's Coffee & Tea.
The two Boystown locations at 3300 N. Broadway and 3500 N. Halsted will make the conversation a year from now. The stores will remain open as Caribou during the transition.
"While the decisions we've made have been difficult for our team in Minneapolis, as well as our team members across the country and our guests and fans everywhere, we are working to make this transition as seamless as possible for the Caribou community," Caribou representatives said in a written statement.
Caribou has 18 stores in Chicago and 66 Illinois stores, overall.
