Holiday cocktails celebrating Chicago's LGBT community

Chicago, IL - Now you can celebrate the holidays with some fun new cocktails and give back to LGBT causes all at the same time.

Halsted's Bar & Grill has teamed up with Halsted Vodka to create a series of Christmas Cocktails that are just the thing for a get together with friends. Designed by the bartenders at Halsted's and named after Santa's Reindeer (including a few reindeer that might seem a little more obscure like Clarice and Fireball but are part of Santa's team nonetheless) the drinks are on offer through the end of the year. Our favorite is Cupid's Kiss which features a tantalizing mix of Halsted Vodka, raspberry liqueur and pineapple juice. Another standout is Blitzen's Bolt that creates some holiday magic with a lemon twist.

All of the drinks are made with Halsted Vodka, Chicago's newest craft spirit, which was founded to champion gay rights. Halsted Vodka gives 15% of it's profits to local LGBT groups that focus on community building efforts. So every time you buy a drink (or a bottle at Andersonville Wine & Spirits) you are giving back to the community.

The first donation from Halsted Vodka went to the Legacy Project's open-air museum on North Halsted Street that proudly celebrates LGBT Heroes like artist Keith Haring. Legacy Project Executive Director Victor Salvo says the 15% donation from Halsted Vodka "speaks volumes about the company's commitment to the LGBT community."

Halsted Vodka launched in Chicago just three months ago and is being poured by bartenders at a number of bars and restaurants including Sidetrack, Minibar, Hydrate, The Glenwood, Lady Gregory's and Wood. Halsted's Bar & Grill was one of the very first bars to offer Halsted Vodka. Although the two share a similar name they are only connected through a love of excellent vodka and a commitment to LGBT causes. Halsted's Bar & Grill's Manager Omicah House liked the smooth taste and bold finish and jumped at the chance to be one of the first bars in Chicago to offer it to his customers.

Halsted Vodka is handcrafted from All-American grain and Rocky Mountain water in a small glass stills. Try it chilled to really enjoy the taste and then get into the holiday spirit by ordering up a Christmas Cocktail at Halsted's Bar & Grill. For you at-home mixologists, here's a recipe for the Cupid's Kiss:

Cupid's Kiss at Halsted's Bar & Grill
1.5 oz Halsted Vodka
1 oz Raspberry Liqueur
.5 oz pineapple juice
Shaken over ice, strain into martini glass
Topped with a champagne float
