Overnight fight in Lakeview leads to arrest

Police unsure if those involved were part of Pride celebrations

Chicago, IL - A Chicago police officer was injured and a store window shattered in an overnight fight in Lakeview.

According to Chicago Police, a 31-year-old man suffered multiple wounds when he was stabbed by a 21-year-old man on Belmont between Sheffield and Clark at approximately 2:46 Monday morning.

The suspect resisted arrest and fled on foot. The man then ran through a plate glass at Forever Yogurt, 931 W. Belmont.

A Chicago police officer was injured when his hand was sliced open. He was transported to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.

Police arrested the alleged attacker. The suspect was taken to Weiss Memorial Hospital.

The area was packed with people following Sunday's Pride Parade; however, police were unsure if those involved were part of Pride celebrations.

9 people were arrested in the area overnight. No arrests were reported during the parade, which drew a record 850,000 people to Lakeview on Sunday afternoon.
