Police Continue Clewer Investigation; New Lead Not Promising

Chicago, IL - According to Chicago Police, a person being questioned in the murder of Kevin Clewer was not connected to the crime.

Police confirmed detectives were questioning a person of interest following a phone tip. Detectives thought the person might have some sort of information in the slaying death of 31-year-old Clewer. WBBM-AM, reported police began questioning the man on Wednesday.

According to a CBS 2 Chicago report, the person voluntarily offered D-N-A which did not compare to D-N-A related to the crime.

On March 24, 2004, Clewer was found dead by his father in his apartment bedroom in the 3400 block of North Elaine. Clewer was naked and stabbed in the back more than 30 times.

Last summer police released a composite sketch of a suspect using the name "Fernando." The suspect is described as a Male White Hispanic, approx. 25 years old, 5' 7" tall, slim / athletic build, speaks with a Hispanic or European Spanish accent. (Full Story)

Over 40,000 fliers have since been distributed and despite a $20,000 reward offered by Clewer’s family last May, there has been no break in the case and his murder remains unsolved.

A remembrance service was held at Holy Covenant United Methodist Church, 925 W. Diversey, for Kevin Clewer on March 25th. (Full Story)
