Washington, DC -
Arne Duncan, Education Secretary in the Obama Administration has joined Vice President Joe Biden (D-DE) and many other fellow Democrats in fully endorsing same-sex marriage.
In an interview this morning on MSNBC's "Morning Joe", when asked if same-sex couples should be allowed to marry, Duncan said directly: "Yes, I do."
Duncan, 47, is the second high ranking Obama official, in as many days, to endorse a policy which President Obama has yet to support.
Following Mr. Biden's statements on Sunday morning, earlier media conclusions that the fall campaign would be strictly about the economy have shifted to suggest social interests may also play a major part on both sides of the aisle.
Gay activists and organizations have been vocal in their disappointment and frustration with the President's lack of support for many same-sex related issues.
Prior to being appointed Secretary of Education, Duncan was Superintendent of Chicago Public Schools.
