Illinois Department of Human Rights investigating Lakeview bar/restaurant

Chicago, IL - Wang's, located at 3317 N. Broadway just off the main Halsted St. strip of Boystown, is being investigated by the Illinois Department of Human Rights for reportedly banning female customers.

The "Men Only After 11 p.m." policy, which has reportedly been in place for a couple of years, is a source of frustration for many area residents and was recently brought to light by an exclusive report in the Huffington Post.

"Businesses within our neighborhood should be accommodating and respectful towards all patrons," Alderman Tom Tunney (44 Ward) said in a statement to the Huffington Post.

Tunney reached out to the Illinois Department of Human Rights (IDHR), which is investigating the reports that Wang's bans female customers during its busiest hours. An IDHR spokesman said such a policy would be illegal.

A manager at Wang's denied the allegations.

Wang's is attached to Wakamono, the sushi restaurant next door. Both are owned by Henry Chang, who also owns the popular hotspot pingpong located across the street.
