Los Angeles, CA - Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine and his band are boycotting a Los Angeles-area Mexican restaurant over its support for Proposition 8, California's 2008 voter-approved gay marriage ban.
Maroon 5 is up for the Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.

In discussing the band's post Grammys plans with People magazine, Levine said the group is no longer patronizing the restaurant.

Levine, also a judge on the NBC reality talent show The Voice, told the magazine, "We used to go to this Mexican restaurant to celebrate after the Grammys but the place supported the movement to make gay marriage illegal so we bailed on that."

Levine could be referring to El Coyote Mexican Cafe on Beverly Boulevard, which became a target of gay rights activists because Marjorie Christoffersen, a manager and a daughter of the owner, had contributed $100 to the Yes on 8 campaign. The protests against the eatery and other businesses which contributed to the campaign to roll back marriage equality in California became the subject of national attention.
