Chicago, IL - In a sign of the changing demographics of the LGBT community and their needs, Equality Illinois announced Thursday a partnership with Sittercity.com to assist supporters with child care needs at their events, starting with this year's Justice for All gala.

"Because more and more LGBT families include children, we were asked by our supporters if there was a way we could assist them with their child care needs during our events," said  Bernard Cherkasov, CEO of Equality Illinois.

The number of same-sex parents in America today is exploding: somewhere between 1.5 million and 5 million, according to rough U.S. Census estimates, up from 300,000 to 500,000 in 1976.  Child care and other family resources are a necessity for many in the LGBT community.

SitterCity.com offers a network of more than a million caregiver profiles nationwide that helps families and individuals find an in-home care provider quickly and safely.

Martin Clifford, President and CEO for Sittercity, acknowledged the needs of all families in Illinois, including LGBT families.

"As a company whose aim is to support each and every family, Sittercity is proud to partner with Equality Illinois to support families all across the state," he said.

With an increasing number of LGBT people becoming parents, it is an important move for any organization, company, or event to provide the family resources that all parents need to stay involved in the larger community and its activities.

Sittercity.com is America's largest online source for babysitters, nannies, pet sitters, senior care, housesitting, housekeeping and tutoring.
