Riverdale -
"Archie Comics" character Kevin Keller will marry his military boyfriend Clay Walker in the January issue.
Keller was introduced to the fictional town of Riverdale as a military officer returning from duty in issues that came out in the Spring of 2010.
The impending gay marriage is also going to be an interracial one -- Kevin is white, while Clay is black.
"The introduction of Kevin is just about keeping the world of Archie Comics current and inclusive," Archie Comics CEO Jon Goldwater said at the time. "Archie's hometown of Riverdale has always been a safe world for everyone. It just makes sense to have an openly gay character in Archie comic books."
"It's unfortunate that a comic book series usually seen as depicting innocent, all-American life is now being used to advance the sexual revolution," Family Research Council's Peter Spriggs told FOX News.
Archie Comics says none of the staff working on this story line are gay.
The first Archie comic featuring the gay character, "Veronica #202," became the first-ever Archie to sell out.
