3 teens charged with hate crime near Millennium Park

Three teens were charged Friday with a hate crime in connection with an incident Thursday at Millennium Park. The teens are accused of hurling anti-gay insults while harassing a man at a Metra station on Michigan Ave.
All three were charged with one felony count of hate crime and one misdemeanor count of aggravated assault in a public place, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Charged were Mack Heard, 17, and Kendrick Towner, 18, both of Richton Park, and a third teen, 14, who was not identified because of his age.
The victim, who was not physically harmed, called police about 8 p.m. after the three accosted him.
The teens were arrested five blocks away, according to police.
