Houston -
A Houston-based Southwest Airlines pilot was suspended on Wednesday after he accidentally broadcast a rant about gay, older, and overweight flight attendants.
The pilot, who was not identified, was talking to his co-pilot about the lack of flight attendants he found attractive.
"A continuous stream of gays and grannies and grandes. Eleven (expletive) over the top (expletive) ass (expletive) homosexuals and a granny," he said.
During the four minutes the pilot's headset microphone was stuck open, there was no way for other pilots in the Houston area to communicate with air traffic control or each other.
A Southwest spokesperson, Brandy King, said the pilot violated the airline's "golden rule": do unto others. The pilot was suspended without pay, but the airline spokesperson did not indicate how long the suspension lasted.
"The actions of this pilot are, without question, inconsistent with the professional behavior we expect from our employees," she said.
