Community Alert: Armed robberies using mace in Boystown

Chicago, IL - The Chicago Police Department has issued a community alert for residents living in Boystown.

Police say that offenders, described as black males between 18-30 years of age, approach Lakeview-area residents during the early morning hours. The offenders then spray mace or pepper spray in the victims face before knocking them to the ground and forcibly robbing them.

The robberies have occurred between Belmont to the South, Addison to the North, Pine Grove to the East and Sheffield to the West.

Area Three Detectives describe the offenders as black males with a dark complexion and black hair, between 18-30 year old, 5'05" to 6'03" tall and weighing 150-200 pounds.

Police recommend residents walk with a companion or group late at night if possible.
