"I share a special bond with my Gay and Lesbian fans. We've supported each other for years," said Aguilera. "It is such an honor to be the first honoree on The Abbey's Gay Walk of Fame. This is one of my favorite places and a special destination for gays and lesbians from around the world."
The ceremony honoring the 30-year-old singer took place at the West Hollywood Premiere of The Abbey, 692 N. Robertson Blvd., celebrating the completion of extensive renovations at the legendary hotspot.
"Christina has been both a supporter of gay rights and a regular at The Abbey for years," said Cooley. "As the first honoree in The Abbey's Gay Walk of Fame, she joins Dame Elizabeth Taylor in being immortalized here forever."
The honor comes a week before Aguilera becomes a judge on the new TV talent show, 'The Voice.'
The Abbey's new look includes a sunken dance floor surrounded by VIP booths, a sleek DJ platform, a state-of-the-art audio and video system, new bars, improved movement throughout the space, upgraded bathroom facilities and a larger kitchen space to accommodate The Abbey's new menu.
