Apple's COO Tim Cook tops most influential gay figure list, despite not being publicly out
Los Angeles, CA -
Out magazine has released its 5th Annual Power 50 list, an accounting of the most powerful and influential gay figures in America, and it includes a few who've yet to publicly declare they're gay.
Apple COO Tim Cook, who has been running the company since CEO Steve Jobs too a medial leave, was ranked number one despite the fact that Cook has remained private about his sexuality.
Technology blog Gizmodo reports that Cook has acknowledged to be gay within certain circles at Apple and it named Cook "the most powerful gay man in Silicon Valley" this past January.
"It's the first year that the list has been topped by someone from the tech world, in the shape of Apple's COO, Tim Cook, who has helped turn his company into one of the world's most influential," Out's editor-in-chief Aaron Hicklin said in a press release.
