Pride Day at Wrigley is Sept. 4, 2011

Chicago, IL - Major League Baseball Opening Day begins on Friday, and the Chicago Cubs return to venerable Wrigley Field as they host the Pirates at 1:20 pm CDT.

Oscar-winning filmmaker Robert Redford will throw out the first pitch. In "The Natural," Redford's character hit a game winning home run that shatters the Wrigley Field scoreboard clock.

Cubs fans that are planning to attend the home opener should be prepared for light rain. Temperatures for Friday are expected to be in the mid 40's with a chance of showers.

Wrigley Field is Illinois' third most-visited tourist attraction. A Cubs survey last year found that 37 percent of fans come for outside the state.

Tickets for Friday's home opener are at a premium. According to ESPN.com four bleacher seats are selling for $342 or two dugout box seats for $750.

In 2009, the Cubs were purchased from the Tribune by the Ricketts family which includes Tom Ricketts and his three siblings, Pete, Laura and Todd. With the purchase, Laura became the first openly gay MLB owner.
