Bill Farrand named CEO of Test Positive Aware Network in Chicago

Chicago, IL - Bill Farrand has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Test Positive Aware Network (TPAN) by the Board of Directors for the Chicago-based AIDS service organization.

"We thank Bill for his leadership at TPAN over the last nine months," said TPAN Board President Tom Hart. "He has provided stability within the organization, while the Board of Directors went through the search and interview process for the CEO position.  Bill has served in many capacities within the organization and brings a wealth of experience to the position and leadership in the community."

Farrand has been serving as Acting CEO/Executive Director since July 2010. He has been with TPAN since 2007 and previously held previously held several positions within the organization, including Prevention Manager, Directory Coordinator for TPAN's Illinois HIV Service Directory; and as a guest columnist for Positively Aware, the HIV Treatment and Health Journal.

"It's truly an honor to hold the title of CEO/Executive Director of such a well-respected AIDS services organization," said Farrand. "The agency has made a tremendous impact on the Chicago community with our cutting-edge programs and services and on the national stage with Positively Aware magazine. I look forward to advancing TPAN into its next phase of growth on multiple levels."

A native of Springfield, Illinois, he lived in New York City and San Francisco before settling in Chicago in 1998. Farrand holds a master's degree in community counseling from Northeastern Illinois University, and prior to joining TPAN, was an executive in financial services and telecommunications for more than 10 years.

Farrand has been active with the Chicago Gay Men's Chorus, where he served as a board member and treasurer in 2002-2003, as well as with Windy City Performing Arts and the Chicago Metropolitan Sports Association.

Founded in 1987, TPAN today is Chicago's oldest peer-led AIDS service organization with offices located at 5537 N. Broadway on Chicago's north side.

TPAN publishes the bi-monthly Positively Aware, an internationally known and respected magazine devoted to HIV treatment and wellness.
