Work on Chicago's bid to host Gay Games® VII is well underway. Revised budgets have been submitted, the Sports Team is steadily working on the grids that describe each sport, text is being prepared for descriptive components of the bid and letters of support from community organizations are pouring in. Meetings, meetings, meetings and we are very much "on schedule" to reach the 01 February 2004 deadline to submit Chicago's bid to host Gay Games VII.
We've set up this email list to keep you informed about progress on the bid document and to provide you with ways to stay involved. In addition to helping us distribute the press release below about two RFPs we have prepared, we've got three very concrete ways you can support us right now:
First, help us broaden our outreach by distributing copies of this email and/or urging friends of yours to add themselves to our email list. Ask your friends and colleagues to send an email to volunteer@chicagogamesinc.org and ask to receive updates via email. If your friends have any special qualifications or skills that they think would be helpful to us, have them include that in their email. Do you have friends in other countries that might appreciate this info?
Second, financial contributions are warmly accepted now as we continue to scale up our efforts in anticipation of a 01 February Bid Deadline and a 01 March FGG decision date. Between now and 01 March our expenses will be real, though modest. If we are selected to host the Gay Games, we will almost immediately have to make a large license fee down payment. We've been saving our pennies and we have the money for that payment now. But the costs AFTER the license fee payment will begin to accrue fast and furiously. If you have the means, a financial contribution now helps position us better for the future. We have set up a PayPal Donation link that allows you to make contributions via credit card online. Chicago Games, Inc., is a registered 501c3 nonprofit organization.
Third, become an ambassador for Chicago and the Gay Games. Engage your friends and colleagues in conversations about Chicago and how great it would be to host the Gay Games here. There is still a lot of misinformation out there about the Federation of Gay Games, the Montreal 2006 effort and our bid work. If you can be an ambassador for us and our commitment to a financially viable, exciting and international Gay Games VII, you've done the city and our effort a great service.
