'King's Speech' beats lesbian parenting film, others to win Best Picture Oscar

"The King's Speech" beat the lesbian moms in "The Kids are All Right" and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg in "The Social Network" to take top honors at the Oscars Sunday night.
Colin Firth, star of "The King's Speech," also took home best actor. Best actress went to Natalie Portman for her performance in "Black Swan," leaving "The Kids Are All Right's" Annette Benning in the dust.
"The King's Speech" director Tom Hooper won in his category.
"The Fighter" Christian Bale won for best supporting actor, beating Mark Ruffalo, who played the sperm donor in "The Kids Are All Right."
A gay man did shine on Oscar night: Chicago-based designer Borris J. Powell won gold in the Oscars Designer Dress Challenge competition with his Black Swan-inspired black satin dress.
The 36-year-old was one of nine up-and-coming designers participating in the competition. His winning gown was worn by one of the Oscar-toting models during the Academy Awards ceremony on Sunday night.
