Muharraq, Bahrain - More than 100 young gay men were arrested last week when police raided a party on an island in the Gulf country of Bahrain. The party might have been to celebrate a same-sex wedding.

Gulfnews.com reports that the men had rented a hall in a conservative village, and were charging a fee to attend the party. Other reports claim the men might have been attending a same-sex wedding.

Police arrested 127 men, mostly Bahrain residents, for "depraved and decadent behavior."

Gulfnews.com said that after neighbors complained about the noise, an undercover officer paid the entrance fee and found "cross-dressers drinking and smoking shishas."

Homosexuality is against the law in Bahrain. Foreigners who are caught engaged in gay sex are thrown in prison and then deported.
