Chicago, IL -
Less than 24 hours after the Illinois Supreme Court decided that Rahm Emanuel can run for mayor, the candidate will meet with LGBT leaders at the Center on Halsted this morning in Lakeview.
The event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at the Center on Halsted, 3656 N Halsted.
With just three and a half weeks to go before the election, Emanuel squared off last night with the 3 other leading candidates in a televised debate on WGN-TV. He was joined by former U.S. Sen. Carol Moseley Braun, former Chicago Board of Education President Gery Chico and City Clerk Miguel del Valle.
Moseley Braun and Emanuel both played up their experience at the national level. Emanuel said that the city needs someone who has the strength, determination and "grit" to make big changes.
This morning, Emanuel is expected to address issues of concern to Chicago's LGBT residents.
Chico hosted a similar LGBT forum at the Center on Halsted on Dec. 20
