Chicago, IL - Shawn Hazen, bartender and marketing manager at Roscoe's Tavern in Boystown Chicago has won a local cocktail creation competition which is sending him to New York City next week for hopes of a national title.

In the "Master of Manhattan" contest which was sponsored by Woodford Reserve in Chicago this past November, Hazen competed with six other bartenders from exclusive establishments including Gibson's and The Market. Hazen's unique recipe was judged by a panel of experts and the crowd to be the best. Woodford Reserve is a high end premium bourbon distilled in Kentucky.

Hazen will travel to New York to compete with bartenders from six other cities including San Francisco, New Orleans and Nashville. Esquire Magazine is the national sponsor of the event on January 11, 2011 in SoHo.

Shawn's recipe is three ounces Woodford Reserve, one ounce of Ruby port, ½ ounce apple cider reduction (which he makes himself) and garnished with Door County sour cherries infused with port. The cocktail is served "up".
