Chicago, IL -
The Chicago Transit Authority recommends revelers be ‘penny-wise' and take advantage of penny rides on CTA buses and trains to ring in the New Year.
The annual tradition continues beginning Friday at 8 p.m. through 6 a.m. New Year's Day, Saturday, January 1. Several routes will have extended hours.
"Penny rides are our way of encouraging people to leave their cars at home and let the CTA be their designated driver over the New Year's holiday," said CTA President Richard L. Rodriguez. "The CTA is continuing a 25-year tradition of ringing in the new year with our penny ride service."
Taking the CTA not only makes travel safer for those riding, but also reduces traffic congestion by keeping more drivers off the road.
More details can be found on the CTA's web site www.transitchicago.com.
