Dallas - A gay couple in Texas has gotten married in Washington, D.C. via Skype, in what they hope is a new, legal "e-marriage" way for gays in other states to tie the knot.

Mark Reed and Dante Walkup registered for their wedding license in Washington, D.C., but held their wedding ceremony at the W Hotel in Dallas. The officiant joined them on a big-screen TV via Skype from Washington. The marriage license came in the mail a few days later.

They wanted to get married in Dallas so their families could attend.

Military couples do remote weddings on a regular basis, but this is the first time a gay couple has ever used technology to get around a state's ban on gay marriage.

"It's like the more equal we can get through creative ways, we're going to do it," Reed told the Dallas Voice. "It's just important to do anything we can to find creative ways around inequality."
