Indy baker that refused rainbow cupcakes could lose lease

The owners of an Indianapolis bakery that refused an order from some gay students from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) could now face eviction.
The co-owner of Just Cookies bakery, which is located inside the publicly-owned City Market, told the students that he wouldn't prepare a special order for a group that endorsed homosexual activity.
The order for rainbow colored cupcakes was to commemorate "National Coming Out Day" on Oct. 11.
Now the city of Indianapolis is investigating whether the owner engaged in discrimination as the city's Republican mayor, Greg Ballard, promises to take action.
"That could be grounds for taking away their stand in the market," Wayne Schmidt, president of the City Market Board, told the Indianapolis Star. "I'd hate to lose them, but we can't tolerate any kind of discrimination like that."
An Indianapolis radio station is holding an event in a show of support for the university LGBT group. The "Scotty Show's First Annual Gay Cupcake Party" will take place tomorrow.
