Dog Day Saturday Afternoon returns on December 10

The popular Dog Day Saturday Afternoon, normally held at Sidetrack on the first Saturday of the month, is being pushed back a week in December for the even-more-popular Santa Speedo Run.

On Saturday, December 3, the near-naked festivities kick off at 12noon, with registration for the 1-mile run through East Lakeview. The 11th annual Santa Speedo Run Northalsted 2022 starts and finishes at Sidetrack. The chilly, eye-candy-packed party features a special rendition of the Christmas Carol “Jingle Balls!” at 1:50 p.m.

The run starts at 2 p.m., with awards, entertainment and door prizes at 2:30 p.m., led by Debbie Fox.

The after-party, from 3-8 p.m., features Zamora Love and Sasha Love.

Proceeds from the Santa Speedo Run Northalsted 2022 benefit the Center on Halsted, specifically, the Center’s youth housing initiative, which provides a place to call home and essential services to LGBTQ youth.

Dog Day Saturday Afternoon returns on December 10.

“Dog Days is one of my favorite Saturdays of every month. I enjoy the opportunity to take our Sidetrack camera and get adorable pictures of adorable dogs and their owners,” said Sidetrack general manager Brad Balof, who tagged the Halloween Dog Day Costume Contest one of his annual favorites.

Dog Day Saturday Afternoon attracts 50 to 150 dogs and their owners – and friends of the furry, four-legged pals.

“Dog-people can’t get enough of being in Sidetrack on Dog Day. Even people without dogs, like me, have a great time socializing with our four-legged friends,” Balof said.
