W Series created as a response to lack of women in Formula 1 motorsports

Caitlyn Jenner, Olympian and television star, is entering the car racing business. She has launched the Jenner Racing Team for the 2022 season of the W Series.

The championship series opens in May in Miami.

W Series is a women-only international single-seater racecar competition founded in 2018. It was established as a response to the lack of female drivers in Formula 1 motorsports.

"As a believer in fair competition, a lover of motor racing, and a supporter of all women in sport ... W Series ticks every box for me," Jenner said.

"A championshop dedicated to inspiring young girls and giving women the chance to succeed in roles throughout what has traditionally been a male-dominated industry, W Series is changing the face of motorsport."

Jenner is herself a professional racecar driver, having first competed in Daytona in 1980.
