Chicago Pride Fest, previously announced for October 1 and 2, will now extend to Sunday October 3, taking the place of the now cancelled Chicago Pride Parade, organizers confirmed to GoPride.com.
The parade was cancelled last week by organizers
, amid rising COVID-19 cases in Chicago and Illinois. The 2022 Chicago Pride Parade is scheduled for Sunday, June 26, 2022. Northalsted Business Alliance
, the group behind Chicago Pride Fest and Northalsted Market Days, Tuesday announced Mya, Shangela, VINCINT, Crystal Waters, Kristine W, Brooke Eden and St. Panther as the headliners for the three-day street festival.
The lineup also includes Sixteen Candles, Boy Band Review w/special guest Toxic feat. Garek, Rod Tuffcurls, and Catfight. Schedule and full lineup details will be announced soon, according to organizers.
Adhering to the COVID-19 protocols that were in place for Market Days, attendees of the festival will be encouraged to be fully vaccinated or be issued a mask to wear.
Indoor restaurants and bars in the festival area along N. Halsted St. continue to require proof of vaccination or recent negative test for entry.
Free COVID testing and vaccinations will again be offered before and on-site at the festival.
Northalsted Business Alliance President and festival organizer Ramesh Ariyanayakam is thrilled for the festival's return. “Northalsted celebrates Pride year-round. When the pandemic hit, it posed new challenges in doing so. Yet, we found ways to stay connected to each other and celebrated with Virtual Chicago Pride Fest. We're more excited than ever that the vaccinations have enabled the return of outdoor events this year, which allow our community to celebrate together in person.”
A $15 suggested donation for entry helps pay performers, festival workers, and funds community programs.
