CGHA 1, Demons 0
Monday, December 22
Andy Rogers celebrated the CGHA's final game of 2003 on Monday (Dec. 22) in true Christmas fashion: with fire-engine red gloves and pants to go with his bright green socks and jersey.
Well, Rogers' designer look must have worked. The CGHA team defeated the Demons 1-0 at West Meadows and, in the process, set a club record for consecutive wins (4).
The CGHA team is now 4-2 and is on break until a rematch against the Demons Jan. 10 at the Polar Dome.
Forward Michael Ko scored the only goal of the game late in the first period, while forward Laura Moss was credited with the assist.
Ko was hit from behind late in the third period, resulting in a five-minute checking-from-behind penalty and an automatic game-misconduct to the Demons' top player.
Goalie Keith Halverson was, as usual, rock-solid, stopping about 25 shots. The four-member defensive corp (Shane Thompson, Mike Kelly, Brian Merlot and Greg Bates) played incredible against an offensive-loaded Demons squad.
The win featured the season-debut of Chicago native Mark Walsh, who now lives in Washington D.C. He played with the CGHA team during the infamous Montreal trip and, of course, discussed some of Montreal's "finer establishments" with Jacobson after Monday's win.
