Renowned DJ Jesus Montanez returns to Hydrate Nightclub, spinning Saturday night, May 29

Circuit music returns to Hydrate Nightclub in 'Boystown'
The shenanigans of IML have been silenced once again by the COVID-19 pandemic, but not the sounds of renowned DJ Jesus Montanez, set to make the international journey from his home in Guadalajara, Mexico to Hydrate Nightclub in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood.
The beats are back!
The muscle-packed DJ will deliver a long, uplifting set on Saturday night, May 29.
Chicagoans will dance into the wee hours of the morning. (Proof of vaccination is required to enter.)
Montanez knows it will be “a night to remember.”
“Finally, people will be able to dance and the energy of the room will be on point,” he said. “I have been working on new, original songs and remixes during the pandemic and finally I will be able to play them all.”
Montanez has spun in the past in Chicago and “each time is very special for me,” he said.
This time, on what would have been a Chicago-crazed IML Saturday, will be memorable for all, without question.

“I lost a lot of gigs (due to the pandemic, and that) was my main income pre-COVID,” Montanez said. “Thankfully, I've been good to myself and saved money, which helped me get through (the pandemic).
“I tried to not let the whole situation (of the past year-plus) get to me too much and (tried to) stay as busy as I could. I've tried to keep positive during these difficult times. I have spent a lot of time in my home studio working on a lot of music projects. I've been busy with remixes.
“(Not) touring (in 2020), I've realized how important it is to stay fit while you're on the road. It's so much easier to eat healthy and to do exercise I've learned that I need to make a conscious effort to live a more balanced lifestyle. The life of a touring DJ is actually pretty grueling, and we have to look after both our minds and our bodies.”
Montanez has been a popular worldwide DJ for 14 years. He is a resident DJ around the world, including Reload Inc. (Los Angeles), Xion (Atlanta), Score (Miami), Industry Nightclub (Puerto Vallarta) and Underwear Party (Sydney).
Chicago is an annual stop for Montanez, too.
“I am very happy, very excited to finally get back to work,” he said. “I'm lucky to start touring again in parts of North America and Mexico, which I'm incredibly grateful for. The numbers were obviously reduced and there were heavy restrictions in place at all of the gigs, but it felt so incredible to be back playing for people, in-person.”
Montanez said he is “blessed” to be spinning at Hydrate, a club he tagged as “a dream” to play in.
“I love the Chicago scene because it is influenced by (the legendary) Chicago House Music scene,” he said. “I'm excited to play at Hydrate … I know it will be one for the books. It will be a magical night, one I won`t forget.”
Montanez said he plans to visit Chicago museums, time permitting, and just walk around downtown.
Montanez said some of his favorite DJs are DJ Chus, Mark Knight, David Morales and Roger Sanchez, among others.
“Try to remember that we're all going through the same thing right now, and lots of other people will be feeling whatever you may be feeling,” he said. “Music is the best remedy. Let's keep our fingers crossed for better times in the months to come. There is light at the end of the tunnel.”
